The Hohe Domkirche St. Peter zu Trier is the oldest bishop’s church in Germany and the mother church of the diocese of Trier. With a length of 112.5 meters and a width of 41 meters, the building is the largest church building in the city of Trier and an important testimony to occidental sacred architecture. The main part of the cathedral was built in the early 4th century.
The 5th and 6th one are my favourites. Simple and elegant.
Some stunning ones in this collection. I’m a big fan of all the ornate decorative hardware on some of them, and the wooden head sculptures on the top of the confessional are magnificent. Thanks for sharing these 🙂
Churches are a good place to find interesting doors. This one in particular is magnificent.
The other interior is unusual too.
Clearly the fondness for doors has existed a long time. Thankfully!
