Probably more strange than funny. I’ve not heard the expression ‘rescue-squad’ before. ‘Lifeguards’ is probably used more often when it comes to the beach.

I like the German version. Swimming is safe, because there is no rescue squad. They must be truly frightening guys when they do exist. But the English is funny as well: I usually swim in the sea, bathing is something I do in the privacy of my own tub (but, true enough, without a rescue squad). 😀
