St. Nikolaus of Meran

Look Up, Look Down Challenge Week 103

Why has it got two clocks?

By the end of the 19th century, the houses of Meran grew higher and the people couldn’t see the clock anymore. So they moved the clock further up – there was space enough at the tower. In 1977, the old dial plate got a clockwork as well. Altogether there are now seven (!!!) clockworks in that tower.

So they moved the clock further up – there was space enough at the tower. In 1977 the old dial plate got a clockwork as well. Altogether there are now seven (!!!) clockworks.
